Clean Install from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to 10.9 Mavericks

Clean Install from 10.6.8 Snow Leopard to 10.9 Mavericks

Hey teamwiza

After many weeks and a few disappointments (by someone I will not mention here) I was able to update my system with a clean install from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.

For a long time I wanted to update to Mountain Lion. Apple seems to have a habit of neglecting their old users in order to sell their latest products. I had no problem with that until I could update Safari, itunes and other apps without a new OS.

When Apple announced they released Mavericks for FREE I was totally excited. A chance to update for free was appealing to me. I did my homework with an article from Mashable on how to perform a clean install. The best part here is the system will start fresh again. Any lagging code or problems will be removed.

As I mentioned before I have Snow Leopard as my OS. I looked into the steps for a clean install with nothing to show for it for almost 2 months. The only hiccup was the actual OS itself. Snow Leopard has been difficult to convert over. In order to complete the transition I needed a few things first.

1) The FREE Mavericks from the App Store
2) A 8GB USB Drive (For Booting The Software)
3) Backup drives
4) A lot of time.

In order to perform the install the USB has to be a bootable drive. For 10.6.8 there was no way to make this happen. Not until a great article by Appducate revealed a way (CLICK HERE FOR ARTCLE). Thanks to this article I was able to make a bootable USB drive and begin the install process.

Keep in mind that a clean install will erase all the information on your hard drive. I recommend getting everything backed up from the apps to your music files. When your ready then you can begin.

Now your ready, just go through the usual process of installing from a USB and you too can update your system from Snow Leopard to Mavericks. As you can see I’m typing from my system using the latest OS and apps. It may took a few days to get my apps up to par but it already feel faster than it previously did.

I hope you guys find this helpful. Repost, Share & Retweet to any one you think may want to perform the update. You may contact me in the links below.

The follow video is on the install process once you have the USB formatted.
